Since 2006, as the Deputy Director General of Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), I have been responsible for “.VN” domain management and promotion, contributing to national and global Internet community.

Name: Alireza Saleh
Organisation: IPM/IRNIC, the .ir and ایران. ccTLD registries
Job title: CEO
In the past, as a Project Manager he contributed to the ICANN’s IDN program to develop Internationalized Domain Names and was behind successful implementation of a number of Arabic-Script IDNs. He also served to the community as a Registry Service Evaluation Panelist at ICANN. As well, he contributed to a number of DNS-related working groups at IETF and ICANN and actively participated in the development of the IDNA2008 protocol.
I found my last term on the Board as board member and the treasurer a very important and useful exercise. I gained knowledge and leadership skills necessary to help a very diverse community thrive and self-organize to enjoy benefits of genuine collaboration.
I also learned the art of seeking and mobilizing consensus on policy matters and the importance of monitoring and evaluation of large-scale, region- and community-wide projects. If elected, I am committed to further develop the skills for the community's benefit.
During my involvement as APTLD board member and according to my experience in IDN, i realized that I could be helpful in developing IDN within the APTLD region. I’m thinking of evaluating different aspects of IDNs in the region and try to solve the problems ahead of registries, registrars and registrants by holding workshops, teleconferences and webinars.
I am also keenly aware of the existing disconnect between certain sub-regions, and my prime task would be to narrow it by communicating and engaging with those members across Middle East and Eurasia who have been out of contact by offering them technical assistance and meeting their requirements to the best of my ability and engaging other APTLD members into that work.I will also be happy to keep representing the community whenever the need arise at international fora and to make sure its perspectives and opinions on critical matters are visible and take into account by our partners across the region and worldwide.
