Call for Volunteers

31 July 2019

APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) is a membership-based, non-for-profit organization that serves ccTLD (country-code Top Level Domain) registries in the Asia Pacific region.

APTLD operates as the forum of information exchange regarding technological and operational issues of domain name registries in Asia Pacific region. As an interface to other international Internet coordinating bodies, APTLD fosters and elevates participation of AP ccTLDs in these global fora, as well as acts in the best interest of APTLD members in global Internet policy making process.

Pursuant to the recently adopted APTLD Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, we are looking for leaders and subject matter experts to contribute to the future of APTLD by joining the Transparency and Accountability Framework Development Working Group, to be known as the TAFDWG. To ensure a diverse and inclusive composition of the TAFDWG, we are accepting volunteers from Ordinary and Associate Memberships representing all the APTLD subregions.

As the needs of the APTLD community evolve, its Transparency and Accountability fundamentals must evolve as well. The new TAFDWG will develop Transparency and Accountability Framework based on best international standards and practices.

In pursuing its work, the TAFDWG should produce its Charter first and, consequently, a draft Transparency and Accountability Framework, subject to further revision and comments by the APTLD community, and a subsequent approval by the APTLD Board.

The scope of the TAFDWG is limited to aforementioned tasks. If authority is needed to change any other APTLD’s framework or policy document, the TAFDWG may petition the Board at their monthly meeting.

Members of the Working Group will join periodical calls where relevant matters will be discussed and (if necessary) voted on. Members are encouraged to collaborate between online meetings on a draft document posted on Google Docs for their convenience. The periodical meetings will reference the ongoing changes to the document (if any), so members are strongly encouraged to stay abreast of the discussion (as well as engage in bilateral and multilateral exchange of communications). To facilitate their collaboration, the TAFDWG may also resolve to set up a messenger-based group.

The TAFDWG will be constituted and hold its first meeting once at least 5 members, ideally representing APTLD’s subregions, have joined in and continue its operation until the draft  Transparency and Accountability Framework is made available for the Board’s review.

The TAFDWG operation will be supported and facilitated by the APTLD staff
