APTLD Board Meeting Communiqué (16 August 2019)

On 16 August 2019, the APTLD Board held its regular teleconference and considered a range of matters. A summary of the meeting is published in this Communiqué.

Consideration of a GM’s Update on Progress in Preparations for APTLD76

The Board received an update on the matter from GM and noted with satisfaction that the Agenda had been completed well ahead of time and looks very solid, and that the turnout for the Meeting is quite strong. The Board particularly noted an active participation on the part of partner organizations and sponsors.

Progress in Preparations for APTLD77, APTLD78, APTLD79, and APTLD80

The Board received an update on the matter from GM and noted with satisfaction that the preparations for the four Meetings scheduled for 2020-2021 are on the right track, which adds to consistency and predictability, and allows long-term planning and coordination.

Consideration of a GM’s Update on APTLD Re-incorporation Options

The Board discussed the current situation and acknowledged the need of a further evaluation of re-incorporation options in order to ensure a well-balanced decision in the interest of the community. The Board also resolved to hold an in-person Board meeting on the matter in Iskandar Puteri prior to APTLD76 sessions.

Consideration of GM’s Memorandum on APTLD Representative to the 2019 AP I*Orgs Retreat

The Board considered a GM’s suggestion on the matter and unanimously agreed to mandate Mr. Hiro Hotta of JPRS to represent APTLD at the AP I* Organizations meeting in Chiang Mai on 8 September 2019. The Board expressed its deep gratitude to Hotta-san for assuming the job and suggested GM and Secretariat render all the necessary support to him to successfully accomplish the mission.

The State and Execution of the 2019 APTLD Budget

The Board received a GM’s update on the matter and noted with satisfaction that the budget is executed in line with the original projections; the Board noticed that even with a stronger turnout for APTLD76 and a number of ongoing projects, by the end of the 2019 fiscal year APTLD should be in a robust fiscal position.

The Board also considered a number of other administrative and financial matters.
