An important reminder from It.com:
In today’s fast-paced digital world, users expect websites to load quickly and efficiently. Slow loading times can have a significant impact on user engagement, leading to frustration and even abandonment.
To prevent slow image loading times, there are several best practices that you can follow.
Using a CDN can distribute website content across multiple servers and speed up image loading times.
Regularly monitoring website performance and addressing potential issues.
Hosting the website on a reliable and fast server.

In the lead-up to #APTLD87, the next Member we would like to briefly touch on is .IR.
The registry was founded in 1994, but there was little activity until 2000. The registry was reorganized in September 2001 and it is IRNIC, as special unit under the country’s Institute for Research in Fundamental Science, that registers, manages and sells both IR and the IDN ccTLD. The organization has been involved in presenting their perspective on ICANN’s IDN programs and its general participation in the Middle East.[
In December 2003 new liberalized registration rules were instituted and a Dispute Resolution Policy went into effect.
Some interesting facts about .IR:
Thank to relatively low prices and the ICT boom in the country, .IR is a local leader in the Middle East by the number of registrations, which have now peaked 1,536.065.
It looks like both 2nd and 3rd level registrations are now available at .IR, and the list of the latter is topped by co.ir (4,244), while net.ir is at the bottom of the list with just 21 registrations, preceded by gov.ir (191)
IRNIC has a vast network of 81 resellers in the country.
Nearly a decade ago, .IR became an object of a lawsuit in the US against Iran, and the court of law decided that ccTLDs cannot be seized or redelegated in a compulsory manner as it can affect security and stability of the DNS.

In the lead-up to #APTLD84, today’s (very brief highlight of the day is .IQ
.IQ is the ccTLD of Iraq.
Iraq is located in western Asia. It shares borders with Turkey, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria.
.IQ is managed by the Communications and Media Commission (CMC), a decicated public agency.
Interesting facts:
CMC is the first of its kind in the Middle East in terms of converged regulation between the media and communications.
The .iq domains can be registered only by companies.
Looks like for now the .iq domain zone does not provide means to hide the information of the domain owner. All information (name, address, email, etc.) will be displayed in WHOIS.
And, last but not least, .iq can stand for Intelligence Quotient…

In the lead-up to #APTLD84, we continue to present our Members, and this time we hop from Indonesia to India to highlight the .IN registry.
NIXI is a not for profit Organization registered on 19th June, 2003, so this year, it will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. Originally, NIXI was set up for peering of ISP’s among themselves for the purpose of routing the domestic traffic within the country, instead of taking it all the way to US/Abroad, thereby resulting in better quality of service (reduced latency) and reduced bandwidth charges for ISP’s by saving on International Bandwidth. NIXI is managed and operated on a Neutral basis, in line with the best practices for such initiatives globally.
NIXI .manages .IN, which is a unique symbol of India and its role in the world. The procedures for registering .IN names have been simplified. This allows anyone to register and use .IN domain names. Now .IN names are available for signup through a number of registrars. .IN domains are easy to buy, easy to use, fast and reliable
The new era for .IN began with a Sunrise Period. Owners of registered Indian trademarks or service marks who wished to protect their marks were given the opportunity to apply for .IN domain names before the general public. Sunrise applications were taken from January 1 to January 21, 2005. The date for the opening of real-time, open registration for the general public was February 16, 2005.
In addition, NIXI operates numerous Internet Exchanges as well as provides allocation and registration services of Internet Protocol addresses (IPv4 & IPv6) and Autonomous System numbers to its Affiliates .It is a not-for-profit, Affiliates based entity, with the primary goal of allocation of Internet resources to its Affiliates.
In pursuit of its ambitious goals, NIXI boasts some exciting developments, including:
– The recent deployment of 22 IDNs in the country (by the number of the official languages spoken in India);
– Contribution to making India the largest connected nation with more than 800 million internet users, according to the Hon. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITY), who spoke today (16 March) at the second edition of the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF), of which NIXI is a founding member and sponsor;
– Currently, NIXI’s dedicated division operates 42 IXPs in the country and worldwide.
– And of course, its rapidly growing visibility within APTLD and the global Internet community, thanks to its leadership most vigorous and consistent efforts.
In the lead-up to #APTLD84, today, our focus is on .ID.
.id is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Indonesia. Since 2007, it is managed by the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Administrator (Pengelola Nama Domain Internet Indonesia or PANDI), an NGO entity, based on regulation set by Decree of Minister of Communication and Information Technology.
On 11 March 2013, PANDI approved the adoption of a new desa second level domain for Indonesia’s 72,944 villages with autonomy for local affairs.]
As of 17 August 2014, second-level domain registrations have entered general availability, allowing registrations to be made directly under .id, without a prefix. This brings the total of available extensions to 13:
.id—General use
ac.id—Academic institutions
biz.id—Small and medium commercial entities
co.id—Commercial entities
desa.id—Villages
go.id—Government and governmental system(s)
mil.id—Military
my.id—Personal/Blogs
net.id—Communication/ISP companies
or.id—Formal organizations/Community
sch.id—Schools
web.id—Informal organizations/Personal
ponpes.id—Islamic Boarding Schools
With these very dry facts, it is not hard to ponder what is so special about .ID as a unique extension and PANDI behind it?
“Creating a digital identity with a .id domain name is the first step to promote your brand’s trustworthiness online,” – says Yudho Giri Sucahyo, PANDI Board Chair.
On a more practical level, .id Domain Names have implemented the infrastructure for the protection of personal data, especially those that refer to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Thus, users of Domain Names will feel relieved with their personal data being safe with PANDI. Additionally, we have already suspended domain names that exploited our services for malicious purposes such as spam, phishing, malware, pornography, child abuse, online gambling, etc.
The advantage of .id Domain Names is that they surely represent pride in your identity and belief for new Ideas with many unique domain names still available.
“96% of users of .id Domain Name are from Indonesia and 4% of them are from overseas, spread across several countries such as Singapore, Australia, Japan, Germany and the United States. This shows that outside of Indonesia, the .id Domain Name has room for growth.” Yudho said.
Small wonder, unlike some other ccTLDs, .ID has lately posted phenomenal growth rates: remember the 2013 figure? Forget it, as it skyrocketed to 550,000 in 2021. to >710,000 in 2022 to hit the 738,000 mark. So, looks like for PANDI, the sky is the limit.
And two interesting and well proven facts, which should be envy for many:
1) PANDI always sends the biggest number of delegates to APTLD and other fora compared to any other ccTLD; and
2) PANDI is the most smiling and engaging folks across the ccTLD community worlwide! picture
