The PNG Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the National ICT Authority (NICTA), the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC), and the Pacific Cyber Security Operational Network (PaCSON) have collaborated to champion cybersecurity during this Global Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
In our increasingly digital world, our daily lives are deeply entwined with the internet, making it vital to cultivate protective habits for online safety.
This year, our central focus on Cybersecurity covers four (4) fundamental practices that will act as your digital defense. These aren’t just mere suggestions; they are your robust protective mechanisms in the digital world.
The 4 key Cybersecurity Behaviors you need to know:
1. Multifactor Authentication: It means using more than just a password to log in.
2. Using a Strong Password and a Password Manager: Strengthen your passwords and use a secure tool to remember them.
3. Regular Software Updates: Keep your devices and software up to date for enhanced security.
4. Recognizing and Reporting Phishing: Learn to spot and report suspicious messages to protect yourself and others.
Join us throughout Cybersecurity Awareness Month as we delve deeper into these crucial cyber safety measures. We have planned out school visits and workshops; social media campaigns; radio awareness – FM100 Talkback Show; and also run this campaign via Newspapers ads.
