Call for Volunteers for the APTLD Reincorporation Members Working Group

The Background

APTLD (the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) is a membership-based, non-for-profit organization that serves ccTLD (country-code Top Level Domain) registries in the Asia Pacific region.

In accordance with the community’s decision to reincorporate APTLD in Singapore passed at the Annual General Meeting on 24 February 2022, APTLD is seeking volunteers to form and operate the APTLD Reincorporation Members Working Group. (ARMWG)

The Objective

The objective of the ARMWG will be to develop a new APTLD Constitution and other documents to be prepared in accordance with the law of Singapore; serve as an interface between the community and the APTLD’s Singapore-based Legal Counselor by calling for, collecting from, and reviewing the community’s input, liaising and coordinating with the Legal Counselor on the matter, and assisting the Board, GM and the Secretariat in drafting a final version of the document(s).

The Workload and Modus Operandi

It is anticipated that ARMWG Members will need to commit at least a few hours of their time per week in the lead-up to the incorporation and afterwards but no later than the fall of 2022.

During its tenure, ARMWG will meet regularly via Zoom, but at least once a month. ARMWG can potentially hold a face-to-face meeting during the sidelines of the APTLD82 meeting. ARMWG meetings are scheduled based on input provided via a poll amongst members.

Upon conclusion of the Working Group’s work, its Chair is expected to present the final report to the APTLD Board.

Who Can Join ARMWG?

Membership in ARMWG is open to both Ordinary and Associate APTLD Members, and the number of ARMWG Members, including representatives of the same APTLD Member is not limited. The background in law and legal affairs is a desirable but not necessary qualification for joining the ARMWG

Interested Members are encouraged to send an e-mail sec@aptld.org indicating your intention to join ARMWG. In your email, kindly refer to your affiliation with a particular APTLD Member.

The deadline for this Call is 23:59 Singapore time (UTC+8) Saturday 30 April 2022.

Next Steps

At its inaugural call after the deadline ARMWG Members are expected to adopt the WG Charter and elect Chair and launch the working process.
