1. Overview

The APTLD Fellowship for APIGA 2026 provides financial support for eligible APTLD members to attend the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) 2026.

This is an application for the APTLD-sponsored APIGA Fellowship. Applicants must separately comply with official APIGA registration requirements once selected.

APIGA 2026 is a capacity-development program focused on Internet governance for youth aged 18–35 from the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

APIGA 2026 is:

  • · Co-hosted by ICANN and KISA.
  • · Organized in collaboration with APNIC, DotAsia Organization, ISOC, and other regional partners.

2. Program Details

  • · Dates: 20–24 July 2026
  • · Venue: Grand Josun Hotel, Busan, South Korea
  • · Format: In-person, 5-day immersive program
  • · Organizers: ICANN and KISA, with support from regional partners

3. Fellowship Coverage

3.1 Transportation (Covered by APTLD)

  • · APTLD will liaise directly with the selected participant.
  • · Coverage includes economy-class airfare to Busan.

3.2 Accommodation & Event Expenses (Arranged by APIGA Secretariat)

  • · Shared accommodation (same-gender room sharing).
  • · Meals during the program.
  • · Visa expenses (subject to APTLD reimbursement policy)
  • · Travel guidance if required.

4. Eligibility Criteria

  • · Applicants must: Be affiliated with an APTLD Ordinary or Associate Member.
  • · Be from the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
  • · Be aged 18–35 (inclusive).
  • · Be proficient in English (spoken and written).
  • · Hold a valid passport and be eligible for a visa.
  • · Attend the full in-person program in July 2026.
  • · Complete all prerequisite preparation activities (May–June 2026), including live sessions, self-paced modules, and any additional requirements set by APIGA organizers.
  • · Participate in eight pre-APIGA webinars (mid-June to mid-July).

Additional APTLD Fellowship Conditions:

  • · Applicants or their organizations that received an APTLD Fellowship in or after February 2024 are not eligible.

5. Application Requirements (Applicants must submit a single PDF file containing the following)

  • · Brief bio note (maximum 200 words)
  • · Full name
  • · Email address
  • · Date of birth
  • · Gender
  • · Economy/Country
  • · Affiliated organization / Job title
  • · Letter of recommendation from employer.
  • · Letter of recommendation from an APTLD Working Group member (if applicable).
  • · Proof of APTLD membership.
  • · Proof of visa eligibility.
  • · Confirmation of availability for both pre-program and post-program commitments.
  • · Motivation statement (maximum 300 words) addressing contribution, benefits, and knowledge-sharing plans.

6. Selection Process

  • · Submit application to APTLD secretariat: sec@aptld.org by the deadline.
  • · Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted.
  • · Shortlisted candidates may be invited to a panel interview (April 2026).
  • · APTLD will coordinate logistics after final selection.

7. Program Components

  • · Online learning courses (mid-May to mid-June).
  • · Eight pre-APIGA webinars (mid-June to mid-July).
  • · Interactive sessions on Internet governance, policy, multistakeholder model, digital rights, and emerging issues.
  • · Mock ICANN meeting simulation.
  • · Group projects and presentations.

8. Upholding the APTLD’s ‘Internet for All’ Vision (The fellowship supports the following)

  • · Universal digital inclusion and capacity building.
  • · Equal participation in Internet governance.
  • · Strengthening the multistakeholder model.
  • · Strong DNS security and technical knowledge.
  • · Promoting the development and sustainability of ccTLDs and the domain name industry.

9. Post-Program Expectations (The selected fellow is expected to)

  • · Share insights with local and APTLD communities.
  • · Participate in APTLD90 as a contributor or speaker.
  • · Submit a testimonial (up to 500 words).
  • · Continue engagement in Internet governance initiatives.
  • · Apply and share acquired knowledge locally.

Final participation remains subject to full compliance with all APIGA program requirements and policies.
