On 19 March 2021, the APTLD Board held a regular teleconference meeting, which was attended by all the Board Members, and considered a range of matters. A summary of the Meeting is published in this document.
Progress in Preparations for APTLD80
The Board received updates from GM and Vice Chair and noted a certain progress in the preparations. The Board also tentatively decided on dates and the time zone for holding the Meeting being 6 to 9 September 2021 and 9:00 to 15:00 Beijing time (UTC+8), respectively, and suggested GM seek comments from and coordinate them with the PACIGF Steering group. The Board also suggested GM and Vice Chair explore options for outsourcing the conference management function to a professional operator.
State and Execution of the 2021 APTLD Budget
The Board received the GM’s update on the matter and expressed profound gratitude to the Membership for their commitment to APTLD and suggested Treasure and GM develop further recommendations regarding using the funds to fully match the community’s expectations.
Consideration of JPRS’s Suggestions and Recommendations regarding APTLD and the Board’s Performance
The Board reviewed with much gratitude JPRS’s constructive suggestions and recommendations on APTLD and Board’s operation and transparency and accountability practices and resolved to take extra time to prepare a substantiated response. In the meantime the Board agreed that the former format of Communique should be replaced with a more detailed Summary of the Board Meeting to highlight, inter alia, the Directors’ attendance of the Meeting.
Selection of the APTLD84 Host
The Board received the GM’s update on the matter and noted with satisfaction Members’ keen interest in hosting APTLD Meetings, including APTLD84 and celebration of the 25th anniversary of APTLD scheduled for September 2023. The Board unanimously resolved that APTLD84 should take place in Vladivostok, Russia.
Correspondence from Chair of dotAsia
The Board noted the correspondence received from dotAsia and resolved to respond accordingly.
A Marketing Webinar Program for APTLD Members in 2021
The Board discussed the GM’s memorandum on the matter and supported the idea of transiting to professionally developed and consistent curriculum to be delivered to Members throughout 2021. The Board suggested GM engage with the mentors and conclude a formal contract with them.
The Board also considered a number of other administrative matters.
