Call for comments on the draft amendments to the APTLD Constitution and By-Laws

The APTLD Reincorporation Members Working Group (ARMWG) has completed a review of the Constitution and By-Laws, and APTLD is now pleased to open the Public Comment period . Please find the draft Constitution and the draft By-Laws at google doc.

The Background

APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) is a membership-based, non-for-profit organization that serves ccTLD (country-code Top Level Domain) registries in Asia Pacific region.

APTLD operates as the forum of information exchange regarding technological and operational issues of domain name registries in Asia Pacific region. As an interface to other international Internet coordinating bodies, APTLD fosters and elevates participation of AP ccTLDs in these global fora, as well as acts in the best interest of APTLD members in global Internet policy making process.

In its operation APTLD is guided by the Constitution originally adopted in 2003 and further amended in 2012 and By-Laws adopted in 2008 and further amended in 2012.

Over time and particularly in the course of the incorporation process, there emerged the need for bringing the Constitution and By-Laws in line with the drastically evolving environment and best industry practices, and the APTLD Reincorporation Members Working Group (ARMWG) has recently completed the review of the Constitution and By-Laws and submitted its findings and recommendations to the Board.

The Board in its turn resolved to put the draft document for the public comments.

Purpose

To invite the APTLD Ordinary Membership to comment on the draft Constitution and By-Laws and, where possible and agreeable to the Members, to incorporate them in the final draft thereof. After due consideration of inputs provided, the final draft of the Constitution and By-Laws will be considered for adoption at a Members General Meeting.
